     William Dorsey appeared on the census of 3 September 1850 in the household of Timothy Dorsey in Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania, United States; Living with Timothy and Ellen are two teenages sons from his previous marriages--Patrick (aged 13) and William (aged 10.)3 William Dorsey appeared on the census of 2 June 1860 in the household of Patrick Dorsey in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States.4 William Dorsey appeared on the census of 8 July 1870 in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States.5 He witnessed the marriage of William Gannon and Ellen Marie Dorsey on 22 November 1871 in St. Marys Church, Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; Witnesses at the wedding were William Dorsey and Margaret Dorsey, brother and sister of Ellen. Both the Church and the Civil record record William's name as Gannon. However, there were no Gannons in the area in this time.
