     Eugene Delos Garrity was born on 3 January 1935 in Jamaica, Guthrie County, Iowa, United States.1 He was baptized on 3 February 1935 in St. Marys Catholic Church, Guthrie County, Iowa, United States.1 He died on 22 March 2009 in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, United States, at age 74; Eugene grew up in the Cooper area and played baseball for the Cooper High School Cardinals and also managed the boy's basketball team. He graduated in 1952. Eugene and Beverly lived in and around Cooper for most of their married life. As a lifetime mechanic, Eugene worked along side his father, Delos, as a partner and later owner of Garrity's Garage in Cooper. Eugene spent several summers working for Ferguson-Diehl Construction Company. Additionally, he was a substitute bus driver for the Cooper School District. After retirement, Eugene and Beverly enjoyed life on an acerage in Greenbriar Township in Greene County, and later resided in Jefferson. Eugene watched and participated in dirt track racing. He won the season championship at Jefferson Speedway in 1975, racing car number 57. He and Bev also spent many enjoyable summers camping with family and friends.2 He was buried on 26 March 2009 in St. Marys Cemetery, Guthrie County, Iowa, United States.2
