James Murnane was born circa 1803 in Dromcomogue Townland, County Limerick, Ireland. He married Nora Keaffe on 30 September 1822 in Parish of Kildorrery, County Cork, Ireland; Witness at the wedding was Thomas Fitzgerald.1 James Murnane died before 1849 in County Limerick, Ireland; James would have died sometime before his wife and two youngest children emigrated in 1849 with Patrick Murnane and his family.
He was listed as a godparent at the baptism of Patrick Murnane on 15 June 1841 in St. Ailbe's Church, Emly, County Tipperary, Ireland; Sponsors for the baptism were James Murnane and Mary Adams.1 James Murnane witnessed the marriage of Johanna Murnane and Darby Day on 6 February 1842 in St. Ailbe's Church, Emly, County Tipperary, Ireland; The couple were married "in the presence of" James Murnane (Johanna's brother), Patrick Murnane, Johanna's brother and his wife Hannah Adams.1
