Margaret Murnane was born on 1 April 1834 in County Limerick, Ireland; Margaret's godparents were Edmond Keane and Ellen Coleman.1 She married Michael Harney circa 1857 in LaSalle County, Illinois, United States.2
Margaret Murnane immigrated with Patrick Murnane on 18 December 1849 to New York, New York, United States; Also listed in the record traveling with Patrick's family was a Widow Murnane (aged 54), her son Patrick (aged 20), and Margaret (aged 14). This is Nora Keaffe, widow of James Murnane. We assume that Patrick's other sons, John, Patrick and James, had died before 1849. His daughters, Mary, Ann and Elizabeth, may have died or may have married before 1849. Also listed is Michael Murnane: this person is not the son of Patrick and Ann, but rather the son of Michael and Julia English Murnane, Patrick's nephew.3 Margaret Murnane appeared on the census of 17 August 1850 in Danube Township, Herkimer County, New York, United States; Margaret is living in the household of Felix Green. Nora Murnane and her two children, Patrick and Margaret, are all living separately in Danube Township, just a few miles from where Darby and Johanna Day live.4 She appeared on the census of 8 July 1870 in the household of Michael Harney in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States.5 Margaret Murnane appeared on the census of 14 June 1880 in the household of Michael Harney in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States.6 Margaret Murnane appeared on the census of 6 June 1900 in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; The census record confirms here birth in April 1834.7 She appeared on the census of 7 May 1910 in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States.8
