Michael Murnane was born on 25 January 1835 in County Limerick, Ireland; Godparents were Michael McCarthy and Eliza Hayes.1 He married Ellen Whelan on 29 September 1862 in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; Winesses were Thomas Murnane and Catherine Whelan.2
Michael Murnane appeared on the census of 1865 in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; Note that Michael Murnane is living next to Darby and Johanna Day, probably on the property owned by Patrick Murnane. The record indicates that there were 2 males and 1 female under the age of 10 in the household.3 He appeared on the census of 8 July 1870 in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; Note that this is not Patrick Murnane's son who previously lived in Henry. Also note that he is living next to Darby and Johanna Day.4 He appeared on the census of 24 June 1880 in Anderson, Madison County, Indiana, United States.5 He appeared on the census of 4 June 1900 in Center Township, Marian, Grant County, Indiana, United States; The Federal Census lists Michael's birthdate as October 1834. This is confusing since October 1834 is the birthdate of Michael Murnane (160), son of Michael and Julia English Murnane.6
