     Johanna Ryan was born in May 1860 in Stark County, Illinois, United States; In the 1900 Census, Hannah indicates her birthday is May 1850--this is probably a transcription error on the part of the Census-taker. She married Jeremiah Day, son of Darby Day and Johanna Murnane, on 29 January 1883 in Camp Grove, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; Standing up for the couple were Matthew and Mary Ryan.1 Johanna Ryan died on 29 December 1945 in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, United States, at age 85; Johanna was a devout member of St. Joseph's Parish. Although she was a semi-invalid for years, she was able to attend church up until a few weeks before her death.2 She was buried on 2 January 1946 in St. Marys Cemetery, Guthrie County, Iowa, United States; Casket bearers were Morris Day, LeLane Day, Earle Day, LeRoy Garrity, Francis Garrity and Marion Garrity. The Mass was celebrated at St. Jospeh's Church in Jefferson, Iowa, by Father A. E. Zimmermann.2
     She appeared on the census of 18 July 1860 in the household of John Ryan in Stark County, Illinois, United States.3 Johanna Ryan appeared on the census of 28 July 1870 in the household of John Ryan in Valley Township, Stark County, Illinois, United States; John's wife Winifred is not living with him but rather hext to William Ryan in La Prairie Township in Marshall County.4 Johanna Ryan appeared on the census of 8 June 1880 in the household of John Ryan in Valley Township, Stark County, Illinois, United States.5 Johanna Ryan appeared on the census of 7 June 1900 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Jackson Township, Greene County, Iowa, United States.6 Johanna Ryan appeared on the census of 18 April 1910 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Franklin Township, Greene County, Iowa, United States.7 Johanna Ryan appeared on the census of 27 February 1920 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Franklin Township, Greene County, Iowa, United States.8 Johanna Ryan appeared on the census of 1 January 1925 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, United States.9 Johanna Ryan appeared on the census of 4 April 1930 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, United States.10
