     Daniel Joseph Day was born on 9 December 1892 in Valley Township, Stark County, Illinois, United States.2 He was baptized on 11 December 1892 in St. Patrick's Church, Camp Grove, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; Godparents were listed as Michale Killenash and Mary Knicht.2 He died on 4 November 1958 in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, United States, at age 65; Dan died in a corridor in the Jefferson Hotel on his way to his room.3 He was buried on 7 November 1958 in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, United States; Casket bearers were Robert Skinner, Delos Garrity, Delane Day, LeRoy Garrity, Jerald Gower and Robert Day.3
     He appeared on the census of 7 June 1900 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Jackson Township, Greene County, Iowa, United States.4 Daniel Joseph Day appeared on the census of 18 April 1910 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Franklin Township, Greene County, Iowa, United States.5

In about 1917, Daniel registered for the draft for World War I. Interestingly, he lists his status as married. He served as a cook during the war.
