Margaret Francis O'Dea

     Margaret Francis O'Dea was born in 1870 in Kildromin in the Parish of Kilteely, County Limerick. She was the daughter of Michael O'Dea and Mary O'Brien. Margaret Francis O'Dea married James Valentine Ellis, son of James Ellis and Anne Murphy, in 1923. Margaret Francis O'Dea died on April 6, 1936 in Glasnevin, Dublin, County Dublin.
     She was From 1915 she took an interest in the National Movement and her sucess was due
to the fact that she did not play an ostenatious part in it. During the Black & Tan
regime her home was a refuge for almost all the leaders of the independant
movement. A secret room, which was shown to an Irish press Reporter, was
constructed in the house at the instance of Mr. Catolan one of the I.R.A.
Intelligence Officers in the area, and here Eamon De Valera, Michael Collins,
Auther Griffiths, Frank Aikins and many many other leaders, much sought by the
police, found Asylum. between 1915 and 1922 in Dublin, County Dublin. From 1915 she took an interest in the National Movement and her sucess was due
