     Ellen Marie Dorsey was born on May 1, 1850 in Pennsylvania. The death record indicates that Ellen's birth was 05/01/1856, but this is impossible since her father died in 1854. We will assume that her birthday, based on the 1850 census and the death certificate was 05/01/1850.1 She was the daughter of Timothy Dorsey and Ellen Day.1 Ellen Marie Dorsey married William Gannon on November 22, 1871 in St. Mary Church, Henry, Marshall County, Illinois. Witnesses at the wedding were William Dorsey and Margaret Dorsey, brother and sister of Ellen.2,3 Ellen Marie Dorsey died on May 29, 1924 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, at age 74.1 She was buried in Mount Olivet, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.4
     She was confirmed in June, 1863 in Henry, Marshall County, Illinois.5
