     Michael Murnane was born circa 1799 in Dromcomogue Townland, County Limerick, Ireland. He married Julia English on 1 February 1818 in Solohead and Oola, County Limerick, Ireland; Witness at the wedding were Timothy Molloy and John Woods. The record records Julia's surname as "Enright", a mis-reading for "English".1
     Michael Murnane appeared on the census of 1834 in Dromcomogue Townland, County Limerick, Ireland; In 1834, Michael Murnane was listed in the Tithe Applotment book for the Township of Drumcomogue. Very near him lived a James Murnane, possibly his uncle.2 He was listed as a godparent at the baptism of Ely Murnane on 7 July 1845 in St. Ailbe's Church, Emly, County Tipperary, Ireland; Sponsors for the baptism were Michael Murnane and Margaret O'Neil.3
