     Leo Francis Day was born on 11 April 1888 in Valley Township, Stark County, Illinois, United States.1 He was baptized on 10 May 1889 in St. Patrick's Church, Camp Grove, Illinois, United States; His godparents were John Hickey and Matilda Owen.2 He died on 16 May 1909 in Franklin Township, Greene County, Iowa, United States, at age 21; Francis was probably living on the home farm with Jeremiah and Johanna when he died. He had suffered a case of measles from which he never recovered. The Death Register indicates that he died from brain fever.3 He was buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Camp Grove, Marshall County, Illinois, United States; Casket bearers were his friends Leo Williams, Robert Lynch, Peter Garland, John Flynn, Daniel Healy and Patrick Delaney. The newspaper account of the funeral states that "the funeral services, at which an unusually large crowd attended, the procession being one of the longest that ever approached St. Mary's cemetery, at which place interment was made."1
     He appeared on the census of 7 June 1900 in the household of Jeremiah Day in Jackson Township, Greene County, Iowa, United States.4
