John Ryan was born on March 2, 1819 in Solohead and Oola, County Limerick. Godparents were Thomas Donovan and Sophia Donovan.1 He was the son of Cornelius Ryan and Hanora Donnell. John Ryan married Margaret Hickey, daughter of John Hickey and Honora Ryan, on February 15, 1841 in County Limerick. Witnesses were James Hickey and Catherine Hanly.1 John Ryan married Winnie Ryan on May 20, 1851 in St. Mary Church, Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois. John Ryan married Winifred Ryan, daughter of John Ryan and Mary Brown, on November 7, 1878 in Valley Township, Stark County, Illinois. The marriage record indicates that this marriage is the second for Winifred and the third for John. Winifred lists her parents as John Ryan and Mary Brown. John lists his parents as Cornelius Ryan and Hannah McDonald (Donnell). John Ryan died on January 31, 1890 in Stark County, Illinois, at age 70. He was buried in St. Patrick Cemetery, Marshall County, Illinois.
