William Apjohn was born in Gortalyne, Coonagh, County Limerick. William Apjohn was the son of Thomas Apjohn. William Apjohn married Catherine Lysaght, daughter of Thomas Lysaght and Ellen Burke, circa 1685 in Old Pallas, Coonagh, County Limerick. Speaking of Stephen Roche, Burke says that he "took up his abode at Pallas, in the County of Limerick, in the vicinity of his brother-in-law, William Apjohn, esq. He m. Anastasia, elder daughter and co-heir of Thomas Lysaght, esq. (the other co-heir, Catherine, was the wife of Mr. Apjohn)."1
